Aaron

James was able to get pictures from his psycho ex wife. I wanted to post them because Aaron is in them. He would have been 35 this year.

Pictures of Aaron

This blog is James'

Well, sort of. I guess it's my impressions of James since I'm the one posting to his blog. This isn't really something he enjoys doing, but he tells me I'm doing a great job with it. Hopefully we're able to connect with all of our family this way. I'm going to post pictures mostly for Teddi so she can see what her dear son is up to, but everyone is welcome to take a peek.

Claymation

I suppose I should post this on Angela's Adventures because I really like it. However, James is into film and this claymation is clever and really cute. Copy and paste it into your browser.

James new hobby

I told James to get a hobby instead of watching tv. Too much tv kills brain cells. (I don't know if that is true, I just get tired of the tv being on.) So, he decided to take up super 8 film making. He talks to EVERYONE about it. There are young college kids that have gone back to film because they all say the quality is so much better than anything digital. It is true, all the film that James has processed is much richer in color than anything digital I've seen. We are lucky to live in Portland where independent films are made using film, James is able to meet people with the same interests and hopefully he'll be making an indie film himself someday.

Teotihuacan

James went to Teotihuacan to visit the ruins (See the slide show below). The city's broad central avenue, called "Avenue of the Dead", is flanked by impressive ceremonial architecture, including the immense Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. They are known to be ceremonial platforms that were topped with temples. Further down the Avenue of the Dead is the area known as the Citadel, containing the ruined Temple of the Feathered Serpent. This area was a large plaza surrounded by temples that formed the religious and political center of the city. The name "Citadel" was given to it by the Spanish, who believed it was a fort. Many of the rich and powerful Teotihuacanos lived in Palaces near the temples. Most of the common people lived in large apartment buildings spread across the city. Many of the buildings contained workshops that produced pottery and other goods. Today Teotihuacán is one of the most noted archaeological attractions in Mexico.

These pictures are of James in Mexico. James went to one of the schools while he was there and learned spanish, he also met a lot of nice people. In the city of Cuernavaca are beautiful churches, monasteries, a 16th-century Franciscan convent, a palace built by Hernán Cortés and decorated with murals by Diego Rivera, and a formal garden that was frequented by Emperor Maximilian and Empress Carlotta. Nearby is the Toltec ruin, Xochicalco, built over limestone caves. The pictures above are of The Chapel of Cuernavaca.
